Social media push

At this year’s conference Ali Millgate from Hardman Communications delivered insight into how to make social work.

“We live in a digital age and social media is now a marketing channel that helps keep customers, employees and staff in the ag industry, engaged”, she says.

Did you know the TMA was live tweeting from the conference? Twitter is still an important channel in our industry and is especially popular on farm.

We also know that 15 million Australians are active on Facebook and another 4.4 million are active LinkedIn users.

Ali says for the best outcomes you need to think and act strategically; diversify and amplify content; and measure and share results.

A good place to start is to establish where you want to be in 12 months and define how social media can help you get there. Develop clear goals and grow your social media audience through content that engages and delivers value to your followers.

Is your whole team on board with social?  A lack of participation will stop your social media strategy from reaching its full potential. Ensure the whole team is on the lookout for social content including company news, product developments and promotions.

Facebook tip

To grow your Facebook audience, try sending a direct invite when someone ‘likes’ your post. It is an effective way to reach out to people who have shown interest in your content and may want to see more.  But act quickly while the content they ‘liked’ is still fresh in their minds.

Click on post likes and hit ‘invite’.
