Farm World 2018 to showcase the Drone Zone

Dating back to 1963, Farm World began with a small group of local farm machinery dealers, it now has over 800 exhibitors and welcomes about 55,000 visitors across its four days. This year, the 55-year-old event will showcase a number of new additions, including the Drone Zone: a specific area featuring the latest in drone innovation.

“The Drone Zone will feature developments in both technology and practice. The area will showcase how the utilisation of drones is such a game-changer for agribusiness across the globe,” says Jo Kingwill, the Marketing Manager of Lardner Park, otherwise known as “the home of Farm World”.

Another newcomer to this year’s event is “Farm World’s Fittest Farmer”, which will see farmers of all ages undertaking a series of heats and tests to assume the inaugural mantle.

“This new event has everyone excited, from the staff right through to the media and local farmers,” Jo says.

For those after something a little more escapist, this year’s event has introduced helicopter rides. “You can get a ‘birds-eye view’ of the enormity of Farm World and the gorgeous surrounds of Lardner Park,” Jo says.

“We have also altered our catering facilities to meet the needs of the visitor, introduced a wellbeing area and entertainment arena and for the first time, offering a Saturday night program at the Equestrian Expo,” she says.

The theme of Farm World 2018 is Food, Fibre, Future, so visitors will get the chance to see a series of demonstrations and presentations centred on these pillars. The event also offers a solid showcase of the latest farm machinery and equipment and the opportunity to talk one-on-one with experts across the industry.

And while there is a strong focus on machinery and technological innovations at Farm World 2018, Jo has a hunch that the animal nursery will be the highlight for many families this year.

“With Farm World being held in the school holidays this year, a popular exhibit will be the animal nursery with cute animals, large and small, ready to meet some friendly faces,” she says.

Farm World 2018 will be held at Lardner Park, Gippsland, on Thursday 12th to Sunday 15th of April. For more details visit their website here.
